Thankful for Parking

By Brandy Stanley, CAPP

It’s the season to reflect on what we are thankful for, and being thankful that our industry is quickly recovering is near the top of my list.  While it is clear that COVID caused some significant upheaval in typical parker behavior, it is equally clear that we are being presented with an opportunity to do what we do best:  accommodate the needs of our society and how it gets from place to place.  We have a ton of new and existing technologies to tackle this “rebalance” with, and so many creative and brilliant minds that call parking their profession.  I am really excited about what happens next, and thankful for the opportunity to witness and to be involved in this reshaping of our industry and our society.

I’m also immensely thankful for the parking people I’ve been privileged to work alongside, build friendships with and have known for–in many cases–decades.  These last two years have not been easy and being able to reach out to peers and friends has helped me realize I was not alone and not the only one experiencing such hardship.  Geographically we may be spread out all over the country, but in many ways we have helped each other through what has been one of the most difficult times, professionally and personally, any of us will ever experience.
