The City of Austin, Texas, is partnering with privately owned garages in its Affordable Parking Program to help city employees save on parking costs. The program recently expanded by 2,000 spaces in eight garages, where regular parkers can buy monthly passes for $40. The lower prices usually kick in at 4 p.m., and are meant to help workers in service and entertainment businesses work more affordably while leaving on-street spots for visitors and customers.
