Editorial & Submission Guidelines

Parking & Mobility is written for and distributed to parking, transportation, and mobility community members. IPMI members are a driven, engaged international community of professionals from every market sector, including municipal, federal, healthcare, vendors, consultants, aviation, and academic institutions in rural and urban areas.

IPMI membership is organizationally based; potential readers may include everyone from CEOs to entry-level workers looking to stay on top of the latest industry insights. Incorporating diverse perspectives and voices that discuss topics relevant to all levels of the industry will help your article make the most impact.

Please take the time to familiarize yourself with past issues of Parking & Mobility magazine to ensure that your topic has not been previously covered and to get a feel for the style, sections, and tone of the publication. Authors should bring a fresh perspective to a topic of high relevance to the parking, transportation, and mobility industries.

Articles may not promote or sell a company, product, or service. The editor may rescind the offer to publish an accepted article if the content does not meet the readership’s standards, needs, or interests.

Please submit new product or self-promotion content releases online for potential publication in the News section of our website and our Around the Industry section of the Parking & Mobility interactive news site.

Parking & Mobility magazine accepts submissions on a rolling basis and will contact you directly if your pitch has been accepted and provide more details.

The Parking & Mobility Editorial Calendar for 2027 includes the submission deadlines and individual issue themes. Article pitches are approved well before the print quarter, so please submit your pitch with the intent to have the final article submitted to the editor by the agreed-upon deadline. After your pitch is accepted, the editor will work with you to provide more specific details.

Currently accepting submissions for 2027 in the following sections:

  • Standing columns (500 – 750 words)
  • Feature articles (1,000 – 1,500 words)

There will be eight standing columns covering many areas of the industry in 2027. Please take the time to read the standing column descriptions here to make your pitch stand out and help you refine it for the Parking & Mobility readership.

IPMI publishes original content only. Do not submit content that has been published elsewhere. This includes substantially similar versions published on company websites, personal blogs, LinkedIn, newsletters, other publications, or similar public channels. Violating this agreement can result in a ban on future publishing opportunities for both the author and their organization.

Do not submit an article that is under consideration or has been accepted by any other publication. If an author does have the same pitch accepted from another publication after being accepted by Parking & Mobility, the author must immediately notify the editor, who will make the final determination of adjusting the original article, delaying publication, or declining to publish the original article. The integrity and credibility of Parking & Mobility relies on author transparency and due diligence.

All published material is copyrighted and becomes the property of IPMI. Authors are expected to sign an Author’s Agreement. Submission implies that authors agree with IPMI’s policies.

After Parking & Mobility magazine’s publication, authors may post excerpts or quotes of the article on the author’s blog, website, social media, or newsletter, with attribution/credit and a link to the original article. However, authors must have written approval from the editor of Parking & Mobility for reprinting or reuse of the original article in any other publication, digital or print. If approval is granted, credit must be given to Parking & Mobility in the new publication.

All articles must be pre-approved and scheduled in advance. You will receive written confirmation of your booking and deadlines once IPMI makes a formal decision to publish. We will consider unsolicited articles only if space allows.

All articles are voluntary submissions. There is no payment for publication.

Issues are in production up to five months ahead, and editorial slates are generally confirmed six to eight months in advance. Consult the 2027 Editorial Calendar for deadlines and content details.

Articles may be published in the Parking & Mobility print magazine or as an online exclusive. Placement is not guaranteed through booking. A piece confirmed for print may be shifted online due to space constraints or other factors at the editor’s discretion, without notification.

Articles should provide practical value to parking and mobility professionals. Strong submissions may offer how-to information through case studies, explain new technologies and their applications, report emerging trends, or discuss relevant and pivotal issues in the parking, transportation, and mobility industry.

Articles may not promote or sell a company, product, or service. The editor reserves the right to reject booked content and rescind an offer to publish when these standards are not met.

A useful test: Would the article still provide value to readers if your company and product names were removed?

Avoid sales language, calls to action, excessive company or product mentions, unsupported marketing claims, or comparisons designed primarily to favor the author’s organization or offering.

New product releases and other self-promotional content should be submitted for consideration in IPMI’s news channels rather than as magazine editorial content.

Parking & Mobility magazine follows AP style and usage. Authors are encouraged to consult the AP Stylebook for questions about grammar, usage, citations, and formatting.

Before submitting your final draft, review and follow the Parking & Mobility Editorial AI policy. Use of AI does not change the author’s responsibility for originality, accuracy, sourcing, permissions, and compliance with these editorial guidelines

Send the article in Word format and include the following byline information:

  • Full name and certifications
  • Title
  • Company name
  • Email address
  • Current participation on IPMI Committees
  • Current headshot (professional images preferred)
  • A promotional blog post of no more than 250 words.

Parking & Mobility magazine will print only original graphics and licensed or original images submitted with an article. Permission to use any submitted graphic or image is the author’s responsibility, not IPMI’s. Do not submit images taken from the internet without express usage permission or applicable licensing.

If you do not have supporting graphics or images, IPMI can work with its designers to create a final layout using stock imagery.

Image and graphic requirements:

  • 300 dpi or better.
  • .jpg or .tiff format.
  • Do not embed images in the Word document; submit individual image files separately from article copy.
  • Raw data for a new graphic may be submitted as a PDF, PowerPoint, or Excel file.

If you are unsure whether your files are formatted correctly, contact IPMI for support.

Authors are wholly responsible for the accuracy of all information in their articles, including quotes, statistics, research, and data. All articles and their elements are subject to editorial review.

Provide proper credit whenever due. For facts, statistics, studies, surveys, and other externally sourced information, provide enough source information for the editor to verify the material—such as a link to the original source, publication or organization name, and relevant publication date. Whenever practical, cite the original source rather than a secondary article.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all necessary permissions have been granted by parties mentioned or involved in the content before submission. IPMI is not responsible for content published without those approvals.

Parking & Mobility’s editor may edit copy for grammar and punctuation, maintain style standards, improve clarity, and accommodate space limitations at the editor’s discretion and without author approval.

If significant rewrites or factual clarifications are needed, the editor may correspond with the author. Return of a final version, proof, or other pre-publication communication is at the editor’s discretion.

Submission of a booked article does not guarantee publication. Final publication decisions and placement remain at the editor’s discretion

  1. Editorial review: The editor reviews the article and accompanying materials for fit, completeness, accuracy, and compliance with these guidelines.
  2. Revisions, if needed: The author may be contacted for clarification, missing materials, factual support, or significant revisions.
  3. Copyediting & design: Accepted content is edited to Parking & Mobility standards and prepared for print or online publication.
  4. Publication: The article is published in the format and issue determined by the editor.
