This Learning Lab breaks down what it takes to upgrade to a Ticket-by-Mail parking enforcement system, from legislative changes that set the foundation, to insights from the initial pilot, through to rollout strategy and expansion. It also looks ahead to the next step: upgrading to AI LPR. The Pittsburgh Parking Authority will soon use AI-powered cameras to improve enforcement efficiency and create new opportunities for automation at scale.

IPMI opens our Call for Volunteers every two years. The current season will kick off this October and continue through May 2028. IPMI members in good standing provide their expertise, time, and knowledge to advance the parking, transportation, and mobility profession. Volunteers gain experience, connect with their peers, and contribute to strategic IPMI initiatives on the most critical issues and trends in our industry.

The Midwest Parking & Mobility Association (MPMA) will hold their conference July 21-22, 2026, in Des Moines, IA.

From staffing and communication plans to pricing structures and traffic flow management, we’ll discuss how best practices can be scaled and adapted across the academic calendar.

This session delves into the psychology behind driver behavior and parking decisions—and how cities, campuses, and parking operators can shape driver behavior through smarter use of technology and data. Various solutions are enabling drivers to make more informed, personalized parking decisions than ever before.

Presented by the IPMI Technology Committee, the focus is on giving enforcement and parking professionals a clear view of the technologies their peers around the world are using today and what lessons those approaches may offer for future technology planning.

Parking owners and operators must provide a well-operated, safe, and secure environment in a parking system that is designed and operated for high levels of service, safety, and the well-being of everyone who interacts within the system. This course will demonstrate how to understand your parking system and its assets, design and maintain those assets, and manage the system to its best effect.
