The International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI) has joined the global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network, marking a continued commitment to accessibility and inclusion across the parking and mobility sector.
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a globally recognized program that supports people with non-visible disabilities. By wearing a Sunflower lanyard, pin, or badge, individuals can discreetly indicate that they may need additional support, patience, or understanding in public spaces.
Non-visible disabilities include a wide range of conditions that may not be immediately apparent, including autism, chronic pain, mental health conditions and neurological differences. The Sunflower helps create more inclusive environments by encouraging awareness, understanding and everyday acts of support. Through this partnership, IPMI aims to normalize conversations around these experiences and reduce stigma.
IPMI joins Visit Milwaukee and its member, Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport, as participating organizations in the Sunflower program, ahead of the 2026 IPMI Conference & Expo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A growing number of IPMI members are also adopting the program, reflecting increased industry-wide awareness.
By introducing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program across its events and community, IPMI is helping to ensure that all participants feel recognized, supported, and included. This aligns with IPMI’s broader mission to advance accessible parking, transportation and mobility solutions worldwide.
“IPMI is proud to become a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative,” said IPMI CEO Shawn Conrad, CAE. “By choosing to wear a Sunflower pin or lanyard at IPMI events, individuals with hidden disabilities can discreetly indicate that they may need additional support, help, or time. At the same time, IPMI members who have stepped forward as trained Sunflower Supporters will be ready to assist and ensure we meet the needs of all participants. This is an important step toward breaking down stigma and creating a more inclusive and welcoming experience for everyone.”
