Worcester, MA now offering mobile payment option for parking with Passport Parking app

City announces partnership with Passport in an effort to offer more consumer choice and convenience for parking

Worcester, Mass. (April 15, 2021) — Massachusetts’ second most populous city, Worcester, announces its partnership with Passport today. The City is launching Passport’s mobile payment application for parking, Passport Parking, allowing motorists to safely manage and pay for parking through their smartphones. With Passport Parking, motorists can pay to park at roughly 1,200 on-street parking spaces and extend their time remotely.

The app is powered by the Passport Operating System, the only end-to-end digital operating system for managing multiple mobile pay parking options, parking enforcement, digital permitting and micro-mobility. The partnership with Passport is timely as the City is gearing up for the debut of its new minor league baseball team, the WooSox. By offering a convenient option to pay for parking, fans can enjoy a more seamless and contactless parking experience and the City is able to more effectively manage its streets and sidewalks.

“The City is experiencing rapid growth in both residential population and commercial development as well as a cultural destination,” said City Manager Edward M. Augustus, Jr. “With that growth comes the need to provide convenient, user-friendly parking and the responsibility to streamline parking operations.”

During the procurement stage, the City was able to speed up the process through the MAPC (Massachusetts Area Planning Council) allowing it to implement Passport’s technology in an efficient and effective manner. With the Passport Operating System in place, Worcester has access to a strategic, decision-making platform that provides a single source of truth for data, analytics and insights.

“It is especially exciting to partner with Worcester as they welcome their new baseball team and need for efficiency,” says Mollie Bolin, Passport sales executive. “The launch of Passport’s technology is a monumental step towards achieving their overall greater smart city initiatives and we are grateful to be a part of it.”

The Passport Parking app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. Users can also manage their parking online at passportparking.com.
