Leading public research university chooses Orikan following competitive RFP and technology evaluation process

LOS ANGELES, CA — Orikan, a leading provider of parking management technology solutions, today announced that the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) has selected the company to provide upgraded parking management technology across its campus parking operations following a highly competitive procurement process. The agreement includes an initial five-year contract with a five-year extension option and encompasses the deployment of Orikan Metro LITE MAX multi-space parking kiosks equipped with both card and bill acceptors. UCLA will also implement Orikan’s Metro LITE Virtual solution, primarily to support parking operations during special events and periods of peak demand.

In addition, UCLA will deploy a white-labeled version of Orikan’s PayStay Marketplace platform, providing drivers a seamless digital parking experience branded specifically for the university. The award follows a comprehensive competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process and technology trial involving three leading parking technology providers.

“UCLA conducted an extensive evaluation to identify the solution that best aligned with its operational, customer service, and technology objectives,” said Michael Kavur, Executive Vice President – Americas for Orikan. “We are honored that UCLA selected Orikan and look forward to helping the university deliver a modern, flexible, and customer-focused parking experience for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and event attendees.”

The Metro LITE MAX platform combines robust payment functionality with an intuitive user interface, supporting multiple payment methods while providing the reliability and flexibility required by complex parking environments. By incorporating Metro LITE Virtual, UCLA will gain the ability to rapidly deploy temporary or event-specific parking payment locations without the need for additional physical infrastructure. PayStay Marketplace further enhances the customer experience by enabling drivers to conveniently locate, reserve, and pay for parking through a digital platform customized to UCLA’s brand and operational requirements.

As one of the nation’s premier public universities, UCLA serves tens of thousands of students, faculty, staff, patients, visitors, and event attendees each day. The new technology platform will help streamline parking operations while providing users more convenient payment and parking management options.

“Universities face unique parking challenges because they serve multiple user groups with varying needs throughout the day and year,” said Kavur. “The combination of Metro LITE MAX, Metro LITE Virtual, and PayStay Marketplace gives UCLA a flexible technology ecosystem capable of supporting daily campus operations while also adapting to major events and changing parking demands.”

The implementation reflects UCLA’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the campus experience through innovative technology and efficient mobility solutions.
