Session Description: In the last decade, parking technology has evolved faster than in any other period of history. The IPMI Technology Committee has been there every step of the way, helping the parking and mobility community navigate through the lightning-fast changes. This session will take a retrospective look at the evolution of parking technology by revisiting our past Technology Committee presentations, exploring how various parking technologies were developed, identifying the catalysts that facilitated their adoption, and the barriers that hindered others. We will also examine current technologies, discussing what is missing or needed for broader adoption. Attend to gain a comprehensive understanding of the trends, successes, and challenges in parking technology, offering insights into the future of the industry.
Objectives:
- Analyze the evolution of parking technologies, including key milestones and turning points.
- Identify catalysts and barriers that have influenced the adoption of certain parking technologies while others have struggled to gain traction.
- Evaluate current and future needs, assessing the current state of parking technologies and identifying factors that will ensure broader adoption and success in the future.
Presenters:
Carmen Donnell, PTMP, brings over 15 years of parking, transportation, and mobility industry experience alongside a keen interest in relationship management. Carmen is responsible for functional aspects and members of the commercial team, focusing on delivering results aligned with PayByPhone’s overall growth strategy while creating a team that promotes personal and professional growth and development. Carmen is a respected leader and an active participant in many industry organizations, serves on the IPMI Board of Directors, and co-chairs the IPMI Technology Committee.
Nick Mazzenga, PE, is a parking technology consultant with Kimley-Horn, and serves as co-chair of IPMI’s Technology Committee. Nick earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the Virginia Military Institute and the University of Virginia, respectively. In his free time, Nick enjoys running and spending time with his family and beloved dog, aptly named Parker.
