
Depending on the year and fuel they use, some older vehicles won’t be able to enter the area inside the A86 autoroute, the second ring-road around Paris. The ban will tighten between July 2019 and 2025, eventually keeping diesel vehicles built before 2010 and higher-emitting, gasoline-powered cars built before 2006, out of the area.
While the downtown has enacted such bans before, this is the first time nearby towns agreed to join; the area is a large one that includes several suburbs that are car-dependent now.
