Adaptive re-use, which involves designing parking garages so they can be shifted into other uses in time, is a hot topic, albeit somewhat abstract. Enter Andy Cohen, co-CEO of Gensler architecture, Washington, D.C. He’s not only embraced the concept but illustrated it with the MOD, a still fictional but fully-designed city center that shows how a parking garage could be adapted in time to meet the unique needs of autonomous vehicles and other industry changes.
