“Posh Parking” Trend Takes Off

Luxury car in a luxury parking space“Robot technology, a demand for residential space, and shrinking municipally mandated parking requirements are driving the transformation of private parking in major cities,” says an article in Business Jet Traveler. And that’s led to the birth of what the publication calls “posh parking.” Examples:

  • The Porsche Design Tower, Miami, which features drive-in glass elevators for each apartment.
  • Seattle’s Spire building, which will feature fully robotic parking for each resident.
  • New York’s 443 Greenwich, whose 15 parking spaces sell for about $1 million each and feature sconce and pendant lighting, electric chargers, and a like-home lobby–and their own prestige as a status symbol.

“When upscale residential buildings are able to include parking, designers are making it count,” the article says. Read the whole thing here (it’s OK to drool a little–we won’t tell).
