Amid COVID-19 concerns, students, faculty and visitors will have the option to skip the meter and pay for parking via mobile app.

Brockport, NY – September 1, 2020 – ParkMobile, the leading provider of smart parking and mobility solutions in the U.S., announced today the launch of service on campus at SUNY Brockport. Students, faculty and visitors will be able to use the ParkMobile app to pay for parking at over 1,100 spaces around campus. ParkMobile is the #1 parking app in the U.S. with over 19 million users and is available for both iPhone and Android devices. To pay for parking with the ParkMobile app, a user enters the zone number posted on stickers and signs around the parking space. Member News: ParkMobile Hits the 19 Million User Milestone and Expands into 20 New Cities in the First Half of 2020

Despite COVID-19 impacts on the parking industry, ParkMobile continues to expand as cities urgently look to add contactless parking payment solutions.

ParkMobile, the leading provider of smart parking and mobility solutions in the U.S., announced today that the company has reached the 19 million user milestone. While COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the parking industry, ParkMobile has continued to grow as demand for contactless parking payment solutions has dramatically increased. City leaders across the country are urgently moving to add contactless solutions, to avoid having people touch the physical parking equipment which could potentially spread the virus. The company expects to hit 20 million users by September this year.

ParkMobile’s strong brand awareness and large network of users are key reasons why 20 new cities (listed below) have launched the app since January.

  • Allentown, PA
  • Bethlehem, PA
  • Belmar, NJ
  • Birmingham, AL
  • Charlestown, MD
  • Colorado Springs, CO
  • East Brunswick, NJ
  • Easton, PA
  • Estes Park, CO
  • Harrison, NJ

Beyond the city parking, ParkMobile has also introduced service at several Universities including the University of Georgia, the University of Pittsburgh, Kansas State University, and the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

According to a recent ParkMobile research study, as a result of COVID-19 people plan to increase their use of personal vehicles and decrease the use of public transit and ride sharing. So, as people go out more often, finding and paying for parking will become increasingly important. Additionally, the study showed that 40% of people plan to increase usage of contactless payments due to COVID-19, while only 4.5% will decrease usage.

“We have been very busy in 2020 and we have great momentum going into the second half of the year,” says Jon Ziglar, CEO of ParkMobile. “Because of our strong brand awareness and large network of users across the country, we are able to quickly and easily transition cities to contactless payments.”

2020 IPMI Marketing Award Winner: Website or Mobile App Launch/Redesign: ParkMobile Pro

In 2018, ParkMobile launched the Parking Availability feature in its app, which allows users to see surrounding parking space availability in real time. ParkMobile was the first-to-market with this innovative smart parking feature. Rather than provide it for free, the company decided to make Parking Availability part of its ParkMobile Pro premium membership program; for $0.99 a month, Parkmobile users can upgrade their in-app experience to gain access to discounted transaction fees and special offers on rental cars, roadside assistance, mobile car washes, and more.

The marketing plan surrounding the new feature was aggressive. After the launch of the new feature, the company added a new landing page to the “How It Works” section of its website that explained the available perks, with a special emphasis on the Parking Availability feature. The website also includes a new video explaining the functionality and benefits of Parking Availability.

ParkMobile targeted users with in-app messaging that advertised the new feature to already active Pro users, as well as non-Pro users. Email messages were sent to Pro users, telling them everything they had to look forward to with the launch of the newest feature.
Non-Pro users received emails highlighting the addition of the Parking Availability feature and all the other remaining benefits of Pro. After the in-app messages went live and emails were sent, there was a spike in sign-ups: 848 new sign-ups in one day. ParkMobile continues to reach out to non-Pro users about once a month.

The Parking Availability feature was also promoted to ParkMobile’s 33,000 Twitter followers and 35,000 Facebook followers. The company also conducted an extensive public relations launch, receiving major media mentions from CNET, Digital Trends, and the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

ParkMobile replaces the MobileNOW! app which shut down last week. ParkMobile has over 1.1 million users of the app in Pennsylvania and is widely available in many cities across the state including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Lancaster, Harrisburg, State College, and more. Member News: Colorado Springs Partners with ParkMobile for Contactless Parking Payments

ParkMobile - New LogoResidents and visitors to Colorado Springs will have the option to pay for parking on their mobile device without touching the meter

Colorado Springs, CO  – The City of Colorado Springs Parking Enterprise and ParkMobile have announced a new partnership to provide contactless payments via mobile app at approximately 2,400 metered parking spaces throughout the City of Colorado Springs.

“The City of Colorado Springs is happy to introduce contactless parking payments with the ParkMobile app,” said Parking Enterprise Director, Scott Lee. “We are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our residents and visitors. A mobile app for parking payments reduces the need for people to touch the meters and potentially spread germs.”

ParkMobile stickers and signs will be installed in Downtown Colorado Springs and Old Colorado City beginning the last week of May. The app will go live June 1, 2020, when the City’s Parking Enterprise begins parking enforcement again after limiting enforcement of meters for several weeks during the COVID-19 closures.

“As businesses reopen Downtown, metered parking spots are in demand again. For a few years, Downtown Partnership has advocated for innovative, touch-free technology that allows shoppers and diners the convenience of paying and extending parking times remotely. This is a great convenience for Downtown patrons,” said Susan Edmondson, President and CEO of Downtown Partnership.

The ParkMobile App is a free download available for both iPhone and Android devices. To pay for parking with the app, a user enters the zone number posted on stickers and signs around the meter, selects the amount of time needed, and touches the “Start Parking” button to begin the session. The user can also extend the time of the parking session on their mobile device, without having to go back to the meter. Meters will still have the option to pay by card or coin in addition to the app.

Later this year, the ParkMobile app will introduce an innovative new feature for Colorado Springs that will show where available parking spots are in the city based on real-time sensor data. This will help drivers avoid the areas with no available parking and navigate directly to the streets with open spots, saving time and frustration while reducing congestion.

ParkMobile has a large and growing audience in Colorado, with over 650,000 users in the state. The app is currently available in Denver, Boulder, Winter Park, Telluride, Manitou Springs, and Steamboat Springs. Additionally, the app can be used at the University of Denver, and the University of Colorado Boulder and Colorado Springs campuses. Beyond the state of Colorado, the app can be used to pay for parking in over 400 cities across the United States.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the City of Colorado Springs,” says Jon Ziglar, CEO of ParkMobile. “We have a large and growing base of users in Colorado that can now avoid touching the meter and use the app to pay for parking wherever they go in the state.”
