Paid parking is at the center of a lawsuit alleging breach of contract and fraud against the owner of a Lake Tahoe ski resort.
Northstar California Resort announced in October that a previously free-to-park lot would convert to paid parking this ski season, with rates of $10 per day on weekdays and $20 per day weekends and holidays. Two season passholders filed suit, saying the fees could add $2,000 to their personal season use costs and that there was no refund available to passholders after the fact. They said they’d already purchased their season passes when the parking change was made.
A remote lot with shuttle service to the resort remains free, but the suit-filers said it would add time and potential danger to their days, particularly in bad weather. The suit asks that the resort be required to reinstate free parking for passholders this season. Read the whole story here.
