Insights and Engagement: Reflections on Recent Municipal Roundtable Session

By Hannah Adeponu, CAPP

I recently moderated a Municipal member roundtable session with David Lipscomb from the District of Columbia Department of Transportation. We talked about Best Practices in Curbside Management. This is the first of these type of sessions that I have been a moderator on but I will tell you that it was very enjoyable to me. The IPMI staff and my co-moderator made the process of preparing and presenting stress-free.

There was a lot of interest in the roundtable and the attendees were very engaged. I have been to other roundtables and the municipal member group at IPMI have impressed me each time with the insights that they (we) are willing to share with our counterparts in the industry. Looking at all the different partnerships that have been made across the world with different technologies in the smallest parking programs to the largest metropolitan areas we have similar problems that we can (and should) talk to each other about. This is one of the reasons I attend, agreed to moderate, and encourage others to participate in these opportunities through IPMI. Sharing your experience, questions, even frustrations with others can bring forward solutions and enhancements to our programs that may not otherwise be realized. That may sound silly to some, but I will assure you that I am genuine when I say that I have learned so much from my municipal counterparts through the Municipal roundtable sessions and other webinars that IPMI puts on that I will continue to participate in them and encourage you all to do the same!

Thank you IPMI, David, and the other participants of this most recent discussion for sharing your best practices and experiences in curb management!
