One of the executives I work with started at a young age installing revenue control equipment and worked his way through the ranks of the company to the top. Even though it was family owned at the time, he pushed his way through. He became a well-known name within the industry segment. This was for good reason, as he knows the business from the ground up. He’s been in it since ticket machines had typewriter-like mechanisms that stamped the date/time on the ticket.

The company changed hands and he maintains a position at high level in the U.S. He’s a good, honest, hard-working man whose heart and soul is deeply invested in the business. I’ve never met someone so dedicated to their work and I aspire to be like him.

Many people look up the ladder at the companies they work for with discontent for those above them. They may feel their superiors are undeserving of their positions. When I look up and see the people I work for, I know they earned their ranks and I am inspired. It feels good to work for people you respect. It feels even better to be respected by them.
