The Village adds mobile parking app for quicker payment option
Romeoville, Ill (Feb. 5, 2018) — The Village of Romeoville announced the launch of PassportParking®, a mobile parking application that allows parkers to pay for their parking through their smartphones. The app is powered by the global leader of mobile payments for parking and transit, Passport, serving cities and universities throughout North America.
The PassportParking app makes paying for parking more convenient for residents and visitors. In addition to paying for parking, users can:
- Monitor their parking sessions
- View payment history
- Receive email receipts
- Store funds in a closed loop wallet
This is the first time Romeoville will have a Metra stop in the Village. Parkers will be able to avoid frigid winter weather by quickly paying for parking on the go or even in advance without putting cash in a machine. A select number of Romeoville annual and semi-annual permits will be available to the public.
“We want to make it easier for customers to pay for parking, and to extend their time without a hassle when riding Metra,” said Mayor of Romeoville John Noak. “People can pay from the convenience of their phones without having to dig for coins.”
Max Mickey, Midwest Sales for Passport said, “Passport is thrilled to add another Village to the Passport network. Each time we form a partnership with a Chicagoland municipality it only opens more doors and options for all the Metra riders and parkers alike. We are excited to be of assistance to the entire region.”
Passport is the industry’s leading mobile technology solution specializing in enterprise business applications and payments for the public and private sectors. The company works with more than 60 municipalities in Illinois. Its parking app, PassportParking, is available on every Metra line. The app is free to download through the App Store or Google Play. Users can also manage their parking at ppprk.com.
